ABOUT JO WEBSTER

Kyoto Japan 1952

JO Webster is a gifted contemporary artist who is equally skilled in both realistic and abstract forms of expression. Her depictions vary from dreamy tropical watercolors to vibrant, richly textured abstracts. Webster’s original monoprints begin with watercolors over an oil-based collograph to bring about resistance. She masterfully manipulates bright colors which “play with each other to create a vibrating effect and to add interest to the piece.” The artist then adds shapes, iridescent and metallic colors and finally texture, through mixed media.

The artist was born in Kyoto, Japan, in 1952. She graduated from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in 1984, with a degree in Commercial Art.
