ABOUT TED GOERSCHNER
New Jersey United States 1933 -2012
Ted Goerschner was born in New Jersey in 1933. At the age of 6 he started drawing and knew he wanted to be an artist. Inspired by his grandfather who was a successful painter and sculptor, Ted committed himself to his studies. He attended the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art in New Jersey and afer a 2 year commitment in the Korean War, he studied painting at the Art Student’s League in New York City.
While pursuing his career, he supported himself in many professions until in 1977 he got his big break when Charles Movalli wrote an article on him in American Artist. His career soared. He is a Master Signature Member of Oil Painters of America and the California Art Club. He has published four books on painting, and has given many workshops to aspiring artists. He has exhibited at the Art Students League in New York, The National Academy of Design in New York, The Salamagundi Club in New York, and the Rockport Art Association. He has been featured in many magazine articles, “American Art Collector” in 2006, “International Artist” 2006, “Art of the West” 1997, 1988; “U.S. Art” 1987, “Southwest Art” 1981, “Art and Graphics Today” 1988 and “American Artist” 1977.
He has earned the following awards, People Choice Award, Oil Painters of America, National Show 1997 & 1996, Gold medal, Rockport Arts Associaiton 1977, and New Member Award, Rockport Art Association 1975. He is in prestigious private and corporate collections.
