Between 1951 and 1960 Salvador Dali created 101 watercolor drawings on woodblocks that would be printed to illustrate the Salvador Dali Divine Comedy which was a poem by Dante Alighieri (1265-1321). These prints are unsigned which was common with this series.

Detail Description
These images were then reproduced using a wood engraving technique. There are 100 woodblock engravings that were published as a set of six volumes. The size of each sheet is about 13”x10” with the image size at 7 ¼”x9 ½”. Each piece is from a specific level of hell described within the poem. They show surreal visions that depict actions that are mentioned within the verses.
