Arthur Byrne became a founding member of the Charlotte Press Group of Printmakers, who were the foremost group of lithographic artists in Europe in the early 1970’s. Renown for his draftsmanship, he has been awarded many prizes and been exhibited throughout the world in important galleries, including the prestigious Serpentine Gallery in London. His mastery of the lithographic technique has brought him recognition in the academic art world. He teaches and gives lectures on lithography. His works reflect his technical virtuosity with their exquisite detail and precision. He is known also for faithful depictions of nature and favors the subjects of gardens and greenhouses. Byrne uses a soft, pastel color palette in his work and a precise use of texture to convey an extremely varied range of tone, surface and space in his carefully arranged compositions.
