At the age of ten a young boy named Jesse Barnes sold his first oil painting to the principal at this elementary school. Since that time, with the support of many loyal patrons, Jesse has become one of the country’s most renowned artists. Dubbed The Light Painter, Jesse Barnes has been painting professionally for over forty years, during which time he has painted everything from individual portraits to wildlife to landscapes. Currently, however, Jesse’s paintings center mainly around early American nostalgia themes with an emphasis on lighting effects.
In 1983, Barnes released his first limited edition collectors print entitled The Night Before Christmas. Since that time, Jesse Barnes has taken us on a magical journey back through time from a snowy 1800’s train depot; to the corner café; to a seaside lighthouse providing safe passage to the harbor; to a country carnival; and home for the holidays.
Jesse is a self-published artist who, during his professional career, has ranked as one of Americans top 25 Artists by USArt Magazine in 1992 and 1995. He has had several of his limited edition collectors prints voted among the 25 most popular in the country with Reflections of the Past being voted in the top five for 1997.
Jesse has had three very successful limited edition plate series and continues to produce his limited edition prints four times annually. Jesse’s work continues to place him as one of, if not the best, lighting effects artist in the country and his images continue to hold a very special place in the hearts of his collectors.
